Jaime Gardner

When I first moved to Chicago in '78, I lived for a bit with a good friend, Bob (now King) Cormack and his friend Jaime Gardiner. They were both active in the local music scene, being part of a New Wave band called 'Immune System'. Later these two branched off to form a trio with drummer Marty Mroz called 'Poison Squirrel', a group name that to this day remains one of my favorites. Jaime penned many songs for these groups, especially 'Poison Squirrel'.
On December 4, 1982, Jaime asked me to sit in with him & a friend of his, Jim Lutes (who played drums), to play & record a number of his tunes in a casual setting. There was hardly any rehearsal for this, and this is the only time we really played or recorded together. Unlike more conventional song architecture, Jaime's bass is the driving instrument, and my acoustic guitar merely embellishes & supports. This was a good day.
